Certified Instructor Program

The Certified Instructor program was discontinued in 2018 by the American Avalanche Association (A3) Board of Directors following the Professional and Recreation Course split.

Certified Instructors were professional A3 members who demonstrated a commitment to teaching excellence and the advancement of research and education. These Certified Instructors promoted avalanche education at the highest level and remained consistent with new topics and research. All Certified Instructors were recommended by their peers and were professional avalanche educators for a minimum of 10 seasons. Though the program was discontinued, A3 maintains this list for posterity. 

Today, top avalanche education instructors are denoted by their Professional membership with A3 which requires a minimum of four seasons of employment at an approved A3 education provider, and a strong commitment to quality avalanche education and research.
